Bring Your Kids to Gurdwara!

The education of Sikh children and youth is important to the members of the Gurdwara. Children's Punjabi classes meet on Sunday mornings. These classes teach children how to read and write Punjabi, the language of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib, the sacred writings of Sikhism. The children at the Gurdwara learn how to speak Punjabi through communication with their parents and other members of Sangat, the Gurdwara is mainly responsible for teaching the written language. This skill is necessary for reading and understanding Sikh scripture. Members of the Gurdwara believe that this education will help keep the Sikh religion alive and strong for the next generation.

Gurdwara is working on organizing scheduled kirtan learning classes. Currently, Gurdwara Giani Ji is providing these services during non-service hours. Giani Ji teaches harmonium, tabla and kirtan in the Gurdwara. Learning kirtan is an important aspect of Sikhism and the Gurdara members recognize this fact. We are looking for volunteers who can teach tabla, harmonium and kirtan to Sangat children and youth.

We The Gurdwara has a small library that houses various books on Sikhism, Spirituality, translation of Sri Guru Granth Sahib, life stories of Guru Sahibs etc. The library has books for young children (illustrated books), youth (in English, Hindi and Punjabi) and elders.
